St. Matthew’s University School (SMU) of Veterinary Medicine in the Cayman Islands is looking for a faculty member who is passionate about teaching Veterinary Anesthesiology. We offer small class size where you will know your students by name, a safe and beautiful environment, and an excellent group of colleagues for you to work with. SMU is seeking a full-time faculty member to teach Veterinary Anesthesiology. The main emphasis at St. Matthew’s is education allowing our faculty to spend most of their time teaching, mentoring, and advising students.
Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to (1) coordinate and teach the relevant course (2) participate with faculty in developing case review and student grand rounds (3) contribute to lectures and labs in other courses. In addition, all faculty members are expected to participate in faculty committee, school governance, and hold office hours for student mentoring.
Qualifications: DVM/VMD/ BVSc with residency training and diplomate status in an appropriate specialty or extensive clinical and teaching experience.
The School of Veterinary Medicine at St. Matthew’s University uses the tri-semester system and Veterinary Anesthesiology is taught in the 5th and 7th semester. Students spend the first seven semesters on Grand Cayman and complete their final year of clinical rotations at one of our affiliate schools in the United States or Canada. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with a candidate’s qualifications and experience. Salaries are not subject to income tax in the Cayman Islands. Pension, CE funding, and health benefits are provided. Vacation time occurs between semesters, providing faculty with at least 7 weeks off per year.

The School of Veterinary Medicine at St. Matthew's University admits students three times per year (September, January and May). The school has three semesters per year with all courses taught in each semester of the year. Students spend the first seven semesters at the main campus on Grand Cayman and complete their final year of clinical sciences education at one of our affiliate Schools of Veterinary Medicine in the United States.
