St. Matthew’s University School (SMU) of Veterinary Medicine in the Cayman Islands is looking for a full-time faculty member who is passionate about teaching small animal surgery and medicine.
Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to (1) coordinate and teach Principles of Surgery and Clinical Skills courses (2) participate with faculty in developing case review and student grand rounds (3) participate in lectures and labs. In addition, all faculty members are expected to participate in faculty committee, school governance, and hold office hours for student mentoring.
Qualifications: DVM/VMD/BVSc, with extensive clinical and teaching experience; ideally a member of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners or similar specialty training or PhD.
Starting date is ideally May 7, 2018, for the beginning of our summer semester.

The main emphasis at St. Matthew’s is education. Our faculty spends most of their time teaching, mentoring, and advising Students.The School of Veterinary Medicine at St. Matthew’s University uses the tri-semester system: Clinical Skills is taught in the 6th semester and Principle of Surgery in the 5th. Students spend the first seven semesters on Grand Cayman and complete their final year of clinical rotations at one of our affiliate schools in the United States or Canada. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with a candidate’s qualifications and experience. Salaries are not subject to income tax in the Cayman Islands. Pension, CE funding, and health benefits are provided. Vacation time occurs between semesters, providing faculty with at least 7 weeks off per year.

About St. Matthew's University School of Veterinary Medicine
The School of Veterinary Medicine at St. Matthew's University admits students three times per year (September, January and May). The school has three semesters per year with all courses taught in each semester of the year. Students spend the first seven semesters at the main campus on Grand Cayman and complete their final year of clinical sciences education at one of our affiliate Schools of Veterinary Medicine in the United States.
