SoBran is seeking temporaryVeterinary Technicians for our facility in Browns Summit, North Carolina.
Duties will include:
Maintain accurate and detailed records including animal health records
Perform prescribed treatments on animals
Read and understand technical requirements stated in Animal Study Protocols and discern discrepancies between technical requests and ASP’s
Perform or assist other personnel to perform technical procedures
Restrain, handle, and manipulate various animal species
Perform daily animal health surveillance checks and report any abnormal conditions of either the animals or the animal room environment to the appropriate individual.
Prepare and submit required written records, charts, logs, and inventories in a timely manner
Maintain surgical and sampling equipment
Perform routine animal care and husbandry duties as needed
Interact with all personnel in a manner which promotes a professional work environment
Perform other duties as assigned
Work Schedule: This is a temporary position and will require work on an as-needed basis. Weekend and holiday work is required, in addition to extra hours during emergency situations and for study related activities.
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in animal or biological sciences; may be substituted for equivalent experience
Certified by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science as a Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT)
At least 1 year of experience in a laboratory animal facility or veterinary clinic
Experience with large animal surgical and technical procedures
Proficiency with basic computer programs such as MS Word and MS Excel
GLP knowledge and experience preferred
Must be able to lift a maximum of 50 lbs., bend, stoop, climb and stand for a prolonged period.
