Family owned small animal exclusive veterinary clinic in north Denver is seeking an experienced full time veterinary technician. We are a fun, energetic clinic with 4 busy doctors that strives to practice high quality medicine and surgery, while providing our clients and patients with amazing customer service.
Successful Veterinary Technician candidate will possess maturity, leadership and problem solving skills, compassion, a positive attitude and function well as part of a team. Applicant must have previous experience working as a Veterinary Technician and be trained in drawing blood, catheter placement and client communication & education. Certification as a Veterinary Technician is preferred, but not required. Starting pay will be $15-$20 an hour, depending on the experience level. Healthcare, paid time off and vacation pay is available after 90 days of employment.
Veterinary Technician Duties
Collect blood and urine samples for testing. Must already be competent in placing IV catheters and drawing blood Perform laboratory tests, such as urinalysis, heartworm, and FELV/FIV tests Take well positioned radiographs of patients Properly restrain animals to ensure their safety and the safety of staff members Administer anesthesia to animals and assist with dental procedures Be able to trim toe nails, express anal glands, remove sutures and perform other routine technician procedures Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments prescribed by a veterinarian Provide basic education on animal care, nutrition and medical conditions, such as heart worm disease to clients Teach clients how to administer medicines at home and instruct them on how to do basic medical procedures like ear cleanings Recommend products for optimal wellness, such as vitamins, supplements, dental cleaning, flea control, geriatric care and dietary measures. Answer phones and assist reception staff when needed
Schedule appointments when needed Prepare invoices for each client before check out Discharge patients after hospitalization and surgery Follow up with clients over the phone after they are discharged from the hospital
