The Northwest Veterinary Group is looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated, and collaborative veterinarian to join our equine team. Our leadership team is young and vibrant which is why we have experienced phenomenal growth in the equine department the past two years. This position is primarily ambulatory and comes with a veterinary assistant and a fully stocked pickup with vet insert. Desired interest and skills include lameness, internal medicine, repro, dentistry, regenerative medicine, field surgery, communication and community outreach. We encourage all of our veterinarians to develop and expand their current skill set in order to enable us to expand our services even further. Acupuncture and chiropractic are examples of areas into which we are expanding. Our patients range from high level sport horses to miniatures, western performance to back yard pets and award winning vaulting draft horses to weekend warriors.
The area is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts as we are close to the water - salt water and fresh water, the mountains and the beautiful Skagit Valley and San Juan Islands. It is green year around here in the Pacific Northwest. And if the lights of the big city and its cultural activities are what you are interested in, Seattle is only an hour away.
Salary includes a base salary and production bonus compensation. ER fees are also included in the package. Benefits include medical/dental/vision insurance, professional liability, professional dues, state license, professional dues, CE allowance, paid vacation and holidays, personal leave days, support for outreach/mission work, pet care discounts (we have 10 small animal veterinarians on our team) and a great support staff to make your day less complicated. The on call rotation is shared equally with all of the equine veterinarians.
We have an extensive complement of diagnostic equipment available which includes digital x-ray (fixed and 3 portable units) , 2 GE digital ultrasounds, endoscopy (including a 3 meter gastroscope), Powerfloat dental equipment, in house Abaxis lab equipment, serum amyloid A, and twice daily pickups for Antech reference lab. Recently we incorporated ProStride in our practice as we expand our regenerative medicine capabilities. In addition we have a full surgical suite and an 8 stall hospital facility with outdoor pens and fenced lungeing area. For more extensive procedures including MRI and colic surgeries we have a large referral hospital less than an hour away. You will also have the support and collaboration of 4 experienced equine veterinarians in our group.
We encourage participation in community activities including client education seminars, vaccination clinics, presentations to pony clubs, bowling league, Kiwanis, Rotary, etc. We also are actively engaged in social media via Facebook Twitter, and our website. Our marketing person and equine vet assistant provides support in this area and is very active herself in the horse community. Find out more about us on our websites at www.nwvetstanwood.com and www.mountvernonveterinaryhospital.com. We are a long established part of the Snohomish County, Skagit and Island County communities.
