The Animal Research Technician will be a Licensed Veterinary Technician and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
The successful candidate will have 2 – 4 years of private practice or equivalent experience. Expertise in companion animal species is required, specifically Feline experience, experience with livestock and poultry are also desirable.
Candidate will be responsible for triage animal health calls on a daily basis; maintain vet services laboratory including equipment and inventory; manage preventive health and nutrition programs prescribed by the veterinarians for companion animals.
Assist for surgical procedures including preparation, set up, anesthesia administration and monitoring, instrument sterilization, surgical preparation.
Complete companion animal dental evaluations and prophylaxis
Administer and direct clinical treatments as prescribed by clinical vets as needed.
Collect and analyze blood, urine and fecal samples
Assist in Vet Services administrative tasks
Support key programs for animals including environmental monitoring, environmental enrichment, acclimation and facility reviews.
Support with development and delivery of training material for individuals working with animals.
Support all aspects of maintaining laboratory animals in compliance with the Animal Welfare Act, the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, and the Ag Guide.
Skills: Electronic medical record keeping, technical procedures (blood collection, urine collection, vaccination, animal handling and restraint, anesthesia, dentals etc.), Demonstrated computer skills preferred, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Licensed Veterinary Technician and have a high school diploma Candidate should have experience with mechanical machinery and operations and be able to perform physical labor involving the breaking down and setting up of heavy caging. Must be able to lift 40 lbs to 60 lbs, climb, stoop, bend, reach, and stand for prolonged periods. Be responsible and reliable to work independently when necessary, and maintain good customer relations. Demonstrated math and reading comprehension and good oral and written communication skills are required, good organizational skills Self starter (motivated) Independent worker. This is a full-time position from the hours of Monday – Friday, some weekend and holiday hours maybe required. Qualified applicant will be expected to complete and pass an employee background check, regulated drug screen and physical prior to being hired.
