Paid Externship, $400.00 per week, Housing available. Owner has 48 acres with boarding stables and cross country eventing facility with covered arena. Bring your horse with you! Learn “Hands-on” with patients and surgery. The clinic is mostly small animal, 80%, 10 - 20 percent Equine, with some exotics. Great opportunity to learn, evaluate, assist and treat hospitalized cases as well as perform the following; administer oral, intravenous, intramuscular and subcutaneous medications, draw blood for routine blood work, place catheters, monitor intensive care cases, administer fluids and prepare patients for clinical procedures. Scrub into surgeries, assist in surgeries, have practice suturing, along with preparation of the surgical patient, assisting in induction—as well as intro-operative assistance. Hospital rounds, patient admission, patient care and case management. Daily care of assigned cases under the direction of a doctor. Physical exams on assigned cases , make your own diagnostic and treatment plan, to discuss with doctor. Dental procedures. Physical therapy. Option to work on emergency cases. 40—50 hours per week. We currently have 2 doctors full time doctors on staff but we are a 3 -4 doctor small animal practice with 40,000 patients seen annually including extensive medical and surgical cases involving exotics and equine at our satellite equine facility. Learn a-lot about Equine, Small Animal as well as some exotics. We have four fully equipped exam rooms, treatment area, extensive surgical unit, digital radiographs for general and dental use, lasers for surgery/special procedures , lab and pharmacy. Paperless, Avimark. There is an Oxygen kennel and endoscopic diagnostics. We have excellent support staff with great attitudes ready to assist. Our goal is to provide the best possible care for our clients pets at a reasonable expense.
