The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a new position, the Assistant Dean for Students. The Assistant Dean will report to the Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs and will provide oversight and lead recruitment, enrollment, professional development and support services for all students in the professional DVM program. In serving these functions, the Assistant Dean for Students will also lead the college’s diversity, equity and inclusion programs and promote ongoing efforts to create and sustain a positive, professional, and inclusive learning environment. To be successful, the Assistant Dean for Students should have excellent administrative, project management, supervisory, counseling and communication skills and should have an understanding of issues and challenges affecting higher education. The applicant also must be able to plan strategically, establish goals, effectively set priorities, and interact and work collaboratively with a broad range of people and groups. Candidates are also preferred to have experience in the following areas:
Experience in a tenured, tenure-track, or non-tenure-track position in a college or school of veterinary medicine is highly desired.
