Heaven Can Wait Animal Society is seeking a talented part-time veterinarian to join us in supporting both our Spay & Neuter Clinic and Wellness Clinic. You will be working together with other like-minded individuals to create a culture of support, compassion, and advocacy for our city’s animals. We believe that through providing affordable, evidence-based, quality veterinary care, we can do our part to keep pets healthy & happy in homes with loving families. This aligns with our larger mission of saving animals from shelter intake and risk of euthanasia.
Our Spay & Neuter Clinic is open Monday-Thursday; our Wellness Clinic is currently open Wednesday and Saturday, with opportunities for flexible scheduling on other days.
The veterinarian in this role is tasked with providing compassionate medical care and treatment to all of our patients, in accordance with our organizational policies and practice of evidence-based medicine (“Incremental Care”) within our Spay & Neuter and Wellness Clinics
Perform high-quality, high-volume spay & neuter surgeries on pet cats and dogs as well as community cats in a rewarding, fast-paced environment
Conduct, diagnose & evaluate treatment plans for animals and families in need
Preventative medicine procedures, including vaccinations and annual exams
Improve health and quality of life and/or alleviate suffering
Communicate with clients regarding the care and treatment of animals, in conjunction with our Medical Director and staff members
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records
Education and License Requirements
DVM/VMD degree from an accredited School of Veterinary Medicine
Three (3) years of experience in the medical care of animals
Valid license issued by the Nevada State Board Veterinary Medical Examiners
Proven knowledge of animal medical care, illnesses, and behavior
Knowledge of our organization’s mission, vision, and values and a willingness to understand how we function as a community-based nonprofit organization
Knowledge of State, Federal, and local laws and ordinances pertaining to animal control
Knowledge of surgical procedures, methods, practices, and techniques and skill in performing surgeries
Knowledge of veterinary medical procedures, techniques, methods, and practices
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the general public
Knowledge of animal immunology procedures, techniques, and practices

We are a longstanding nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization committed to serving our community’s animals and their families through low-cost, high-quality spay & neuter services and affordable preventative care. We firmly believe the services we provide keep animals healthy and safe in homes where they're loved, reduce shelter intake & euthanasia, and decrease the burden of pet overpopulation on our community.
Through educating our community on the importance of these services for animal health, as well as reducing intake and euthanasia rates at our local shelters, we’re making a measurable impact on the state of animal welfare in the Las Vegas valley.
