If work/life balance is what you seek, consider this opportunity. Our clinic is open 3 days per week, 48 weeks of the year. We currently book the equivalent of 35 cat surgeries per day, which equates to about 5 hours of surgery. A typical day looks like this for our veterinarian: perform pre-surgical exams on animals (many are visual only with trapped cats); speak with clients as a large group regarding risks/benefits of spay/neuter surgery and answer any questions; perform surgeries; check patients after surgery. Veterinarian is also responsible for checking in controlled substances. We have a successful and well-established drug protocol and process. Your four person support team includes a Certified Veterinary Technician with more than 20 years experience in a combination of private practice, shelter medicine and teaching; our Veterinary Assistant has been with our clinic for nearly 3 years, gives great attention to detail and knows the workings of the clinic overall extremely well; our Clinic Assistant is new, but is a quick study and has proved herself to be great with the clients and has good attention to detail.
We are flexible and adjust the work schedule if a team member needs time off. Our friendly team works well together and has fun in the process. Most clinic days are spent at our stationary clinic in Wausau, WI. Approximately 3-5 days per month, the team travels to a private property to sterilize a large cat colony at a farm/similar (usually within 1.5 hour drive from Wausau). Wisconsin is a beautiful state with so much natural beauty and Wausau boasts a river running through it and the nearby Rib Mountain State Park which is absolutely gorgeous in the fall -- breathtaking! To apply, send letter and resume to Karla Ortman at firstname.lastname@example.org, or send questions if you have them. Help us continue to make a difference for many people and cats in central/northern Wisconsin!
