About Michigan Humane
The Michigan Humane Society, founded in 1877, is the oldest and largest nonprofit animal welfare organization in the state. Each year, MHS achieves 100 percent adoption of more than 8,000 healthy and treatable animals through compassionate care, community engagement and advocacy for humane treatment.
MHS operates four shelter and veterinary centers in Detroit, Rochester Hills, Westland and Howell; seven adoption partnerships with Premier Pet Supply, Petco and PetSmart; and both a Cruelty Investigation Department and a Statewide Animal Response Team.
We have openings for both Clinic and Shelter Medicine Veterinarians at our facilities. Working for MHS offers a wide variety of opportunities for passionate individuals to help make a difference in the lives of animals. MHS works hard on behalf of our communities and the animals in our care – finding homes for thousands of animals, many of whom come with significant behavioral or medical issues. MHS truly appreciates those who are willing to help change animal lives!
As an MHS veterinarian, you will have the opportunity to have an impact in the lives of animals everyday while working in our top notch medical facilities. Our fa...cilities utilize state of the art equipment, including ultrasound, high speed dental, digital x-ray, digital dental x-ray and cautery. We provide opportunities to build or expand expertise through a generous CE program, mentorship and exposure to both complex and specialized care. As a non-profit organization, MHS employees are eligible to participate in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program!
