In an effort not to get lost among all the other ads, I am not going to bore you with the basics like where we are, what activities there are in the area, that we have all the latest equipment and practice the highest level of medicine, blah, blah, blah (If that is actually the most important part to you, it’s at the bottom!)
What you really want to know:
*Pro-Sal, with a reasonable base ($100k to $150k, based on experience and productivity), no negative accrual in the first year, negotiable after that. However, we are happy to offer salary only or any variation in between.
* 4-day work week (also negotiable), NO ON CALL!
* 3 weeks PTO (12 days based on the 4-day work week), increases to 4 weeks after the second year. PTO days/weeks do not apply to pro-Sal (so you actually get those days off and don’t have to worry about making up the difference. Can you tell we have worked on pro-sal personally?)
*$500 allowance toward health insurance per month starting on day “one.”
*All in house vet care/supplies at no cost for up to 2 pets (cats and dogs only).
*NC, DEA, AVMA, PLIT dues and premiums paid by us.
*4 days paid CE days.
*Up to $2000/year CE allowance.
* 401k, up to 4% match after 90 days
*Relocation and signing bonus available for the right candidate.
What you should know:
Shadow Ridge Veterinary Hospital is currently a 1+ DVM non-corporate, owner operated practice, trying to add two more excellent full-time Veterinarians. We currently have 1 full time DVM, 1 part time DVM and 2 regular relief DVM’s.
Our primary doctor/owner has 21 years of experience, 7 in GP only and 14 in ER and GP.
We are a GP/Urgent care facility and we LOVE to mentor the absolute best medicine. This is our second practice as owners, so we also have a proven appreciation for the knowledge of more experienced doctors who simply “just have a better way.” We know that there is a priceless collaboration that comes from a multi-doctor practice and expect to support and learn from each other.
We have 15 support staff for our practice and there are typically 8 support staff per day. This DVM to staff ratio allows the doctor to focus on “Best Medicine.”
We are very flexible with schedule, salary, responsibilities, and benefits. We know that there is no “one size fits all” model and want to tailor a position to the right candidate. We believe that you have to love your work, to excel in your work. We don’t want anyone to ever wake up and dread coming in……. We’ve been there and that doesn’t benefit anyone!
We are a fast-paced practice, but that does not stop the fun, laughter and banter amongst the staff, administration, and doctor(s). NOTICE: We joke around and curse A LOT. Much of it will be expected and graded for context and originality....if that offends you, we are NOT the right practice for you. Please look elsewhere.
We absolutely do NOT tolerate abusive clients. You will never feel like the managerial team doesn’t have your back. We firmly believe that this profession is way too stressful to have to deal with poor behavior from clients (or staff). 99.99% of our clients are awesome folks who genuinely want the best for their pets. But, we did fire 11 of them last year.
If you want to have a place to call home, where you love coming to work, feel appreciated, and can actually pay your bills at the end of the day, then we are the place for you.
Now, that boring stuff that everyone puts in, and everyone else just skims over.
We are located in the heart of the picturesque Piedmont Mountains, in a lovely little community called Connelly Springs, Burke County, North Carolina. We are just off exit 113 of the I-40 corridor, between Hickory and Morganton, about an hour west of Charlotte and an hour east of Asheville. We are about 4 hours from the Carolina shores. There are many outdoor activities available, kayaking, white water rafting, hiking, and boating. Being an hour out of Charlotte and Asheville allows you to take advantage of big city activities and live/work in a safer, more suburban environment. Bear in mind that Charlotte is the fastest growing city in America. We were once told that Charlotte grows about 10 miles/year.
We are the undisputed, most modern, state-of-the-art facility in this area with digital x-ray, full IH labs including cytology, digital dental rads, digital ultrasound, vessel sealer, gas sterilization, brand new computer network with the latest server - running the fastest version of Cornerstone (just to name a few). We maintain a visiting boarded surgeon for those complicated surgery cases, and he’s actually a pretty cool guy! Walking into our practice is more like walking into your own doctor/dentist office. We have an excellent, full-time hospital technician who keeps the building sparkling clean and stocked with client amenities. She personally sees to it that all of our patients are treated like her own while in the hospital. Our inventory specialist does a pretty decent job of keeping plenty of viable inventory on hand, with weekly deliveries. We pride ourselves on practicing the highest possible level of medicine and posted a 97.84% retention rate last year because of it. All surgeries are required (except cat neuters) to get IV catheters and IV fluids. In addition, ALL surgical patients receive fluid warmers, a heated surgical table, bair huggers and pain medication (pre-op and post-op as standard operating procedure and anything less than that is NOT NEGOTIABLE. We do work VERY well with the local ER to send/receive referrals when necessary.
On the other hand, if you have made it this far and you’re thinking that this just might be a place YOU could call home, you probably won’t be disappointed if you check us out!
