Winnebago County Animal Services seeks a veterinarian to join our team as a spay/neuter surgeon. This position will focus only on performing spay and neuter procedures for adoptable dogs and cats. Surgery is performed multiple times per week and each year the department performs about 2,000 cats surgeries and 500 dog surgeries. The surgery team is supported by two CVT and procedures are performed in our two-table surgical suite. Surgery begins first thing in the morning, is complete by mid-day and once surgery is complete the surgeon would be done with their shift that day. Knowledge of and training in high quality high volume spay/neuter surgeries and in leading a surgical team are ideal qualities of the successful candidate. It is anticipated that this is a four or five day work week, depending on surgery team efficiency and volume of surgery that week. This position includes NO on-call responsibilities, no weekends, all holidays off.
