Laytonsville Veterinary Practice is currently looking for a 5th veterinarian to join our team of 35 knowledgeable veterinary professionals. New and soon-to-be graduates are encouraged to apply!
Who we are:
LVP offers a mix of general practice, urgent care, surgery and dentistry - so no two days are the same. Our privately owned practice is located in a rural-suburban neighborhood outside of Washington DC (think lots of horses and breweries, with metro access to the nation's capital). Our clients are easy to work with and eager to pursue treatment plans that our doctors recommend. We practice evidence-based medicine, and try to provide the best solutions for each individual patient and family.
Our Practice + Team:
Our 12,000 sq. foot facility is clean and sunny, with over 50 windows throughout for lots of natural light. Our lab features a full Idexx diagnostic suite, including several chemistry analyzers, a CBC machine, coagulation analyzer, blood gases, and on-demand digital cytology, which connects our practice with cytologists around the clock. We have a full armament of modern diagnostic and treatment tools in our hospital, including a top-of-the-line low-radiation digital x-ray unit, two digital dental radiography units, mobile diagnostic ultrasound, surgical laser, endoscopy and much more. Our OR is spacious and full of natural light, and we have 5 anesthesia units with full monitoring equipment.
Our team is made up of 4 veterinarians and 30 support team members - including around 20 veterinary technicians and assistants. Our techs are very knowledgeable, and are able to triage your cases, prepare and run laboratory tests, take radiographs, obtain vitals, ECGs and doppler BPs, place IV catheters, monitor anesthesia, perform complete dental cleaning and produce dental radiographs, type up your medical notes, assist you with call-backs, and enable you to focus on being a doctor!
Mentorship + Purpose:
Our mantra is that enjoyment and career satisfaction comes directly from knowing that we are practicing quality medicine and making a difference in the lives of patients. With that in mind, our senior veterinarians are here to provide support and mentorship - but not to micro-manage or dictate how you practice. All of our doctors are encouraged - when they are ready - to develop their own niche within the practice around an interest or professional passion, and we enthusiastically provide continuing education to support those goals.
