The Medical Oncology service at the Cornell University Hospital for Animals (CUHA) has an immediate opening for a Licensed Veterinary Technician.

You join will join a team of board-certified veterinary oncologists, residents, students, and licensed veterinary technicians (LVT) that help guide families through their pet’s cancer diagnosis, providing the best quality of life possible. The most satisfying part of our job is forming strong bonds with our patients and their families over the course of their treatment and follow-up visits.
This position will allow you to utilize your training and expertise to provide technical assistance for routine and complex appointments, case workups, and procedures. Some examples include:

Overseeing and assisting in the diagnostic work-up of each patient, which includes venipuncture/catheter placement, administering and monitoring sedation, assisting in minor medical procedures and also specializing in the safe administration of chemotherapy

Working closely with other hospital services to provide the best comprehensive patient care

Shaping the future of veterinary care through practical instruction of diverse veterinary students

Assisting with clinical trials to advance veterinary cancer care
What qualifications are required?

Associate degree from an AVMA-accredited institution plus NYS
Licensure
-
Interest in ongoing career growth and advanced skill development
-
Excellent communication skills and willingness to work in a busy, team-oriented clinical environment
The Cornell University Hospital for Animals provides 24-hour care for pets 365 days a year, but the majority of our oncology appointments are outpatients seen Monday through Friday. Opportunities for additional hours and/or other shifts are frequently available. Occasional requests for additional coverage may happen due to caseload and need.
