Companion animal urgent care practice looking to hire a full-time associate veterinarian for a new business. Silver Birch Veterinary Urgent Care was founded by two veterinarians and a licensed veterinary technician, who wanted to create a better working environment for veterinary professionals. Our location is in what is known as “The North Country” in Northern New York. It is a rural community, with access to some fun and exciting places. We are located about 30 minutes from the beautiful Adirondacks, within 2 hours of Lake Placid, NY, Ottawa, Canada and Montreal, Canada.
We are looking for an individual who strives to practice quality medicine, but we do not believe practicing quality medicine should take over your entire life. We do believe a working environment should be fun and that all of our employees should feel supported in what can be a stressful and emotionally draining profession. We place a high value on family time and time off to reset.
We are offering a 4 day work week, working 9 hours per day. We will have increased flexibility for scheduling hours as the business continues to grow. No weekend or after hours on-call shifts currently. New graduates are welcome to apply. We aim to provide good mentorship tailored to the individual’s confidence level and learning style. Our practice is new and growing. We want to encourage professional development in specialized areas of interest and are excited to make plans for new equipment or training that will give our doctors the skills and confidence to provide medicine they feel good about.
Our team is ready to welcome the right individual into our practice. We know moving to a small town in northern New York may seem daunting. That is why we plan group activities to explore the area. These are in no way related to the business. They are just optional outings that allow our employees to have fun together outside of work and try new things. Examples include snowshoeing, downhill skiing, hiking, kayaking and more!
Some extra information about the team: We enjoy a full range of music in the clinic (Irish folk music, heavy metal, Taylor Swift, 2000s hip hop, pop punk, etc.). We are avid book readers, our favorite genres are fantasy and murder mystery (employee dependent). We are huge fans of Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Brandon Sanderson. However, being a fan of these phenomenal universes is in no way a job requirement. We plan board game nights and are generally very cool.
We know we are far away from you! But come check us out!
DVM or equivalent, ability to obtain a veterinary license in the state of New York, and an interest in working with a great team
We are a new urgent care practice in northern New York. Our practice was created by friends, two veterinarians and a licensed veterinary technician who enjoy working together and hanging out together outside of work. Our practice sees everything, except routine wellness exams. Our top priorities are to provide quality veterinary care to the community and to support our team in a emotionally and physically demanding job. We all have experience with burnout and we are striving to create a better environment for all our employees. We are working to meet the high demand of our local community to see their sick pets and allow our general practitioners to get caught up. Our team is growing and looking for individuals who work well as a team and are passionate about the work they do. We want to support our employees at work and make sure they are given time to enjoy themselves outside of work.
